We’re often asked exactly how the process of scheduling a Nutris legal nurse consultant really works. We promise it’s much easier than you think! Here is a breakdown of what happens after you choose to call Nutris for your client’s defense medical exam:
Initial Information
To get a nurse scheduled, we will need the following:
- Date, time, and location of DME
- Client contact information
- The demand letter, notice, response, or objection letter
That’s it! Our office staff schedules a professional legal nurse consultant for your client’s DME. At this point, our nurse will:
- Contact the client 1–2 days prior to the DME
- Prepare the client for the defense medical exam
- Arrange a meeting place prior to the exam
- Review what will happen during the DME and any important information
During the Defense Medical Exam
A Nutris legal nurse consultant does more than just observe a defense medical exam. Our nurses also ensure adherence to the attorney objection letter as well as the code of civil procedure in a calm and effective manner. They also act as an advocate for the plaintiff and bring a medical perspective to a legal situation, where they often provide feedback based on that expertise.
After the DME
Immediately after the exam is completed, Nutris nurses ensure that the client has left the property. They then go to work to complete the DME summary. The summary will include the nurse’s recap as a medical professional which provides an important insight into the exam. Most summaries are available within 5–10 days of the DME and are accompanied by an audio recording as well.
What Makes Nutris Different
Our nurses are specially trained to not only provide exceptional customer service during the DME and when they are preparing the summary of the exam but also with problem-solving. If an issue arises, our nurses and office staff work to quickly resolve the issue. Anything from late clients to translators who do not show, we are skilled at finding a solution. In addition, we work to give our nurses the ability to form familiarity with the doctors and their office staff. It is these professional relationships that are often the reason that issues can be avoided in the first place.
